Hugh opened the EBS office in Richmond in 2015. With a career spanning 35 years in financial services, he cultivated a niche in insurance, risk management, investment management, and finance. He consults with corporate and private clients on best practices for executive benefits, retirement planning, and the design, implementation, and funding of deferred income plans, supplemental executive retirement plans, and other special nonqualified executive/owner strategies.
An entrepreneur at heart, Hugh founded several successful start-up companies including Clark/Bardes Mid-Atlantic, Inc., Interjet Aviation Group, and First Landing Capital Partners, LP. He earned his BA in math and history from the University of Virginia, later completing graduate studies at the Aetna Insurance School in Hartford, and the Insurance Institute in New York. Hugh also holds the Series 7, Series 66 professional designations, and is a licensed insurance broker. Hugh and Marie, his wife, live in Richmond, raised four grown children, and devote time to charitable endeavors such as education for children of families with limited means. Marie practices law, specializing in tax, executive compensation, and compliance.
